Everybody always talking about how much they love a car’s exhaust, but what are some of the sounds car’s make that you enjoy?

For me it’s windshield wipers. I’m sure some of it’s the rain itself, but there’s something kind of relaxing about the noise they make.

!!! UNSUPPORTED LINE BREAK IN HEADER !!!

And here’s song that has windshield wiper sounds in it! (TBH it’s hard to hear it in the YouTube vid) :(

The sounds of a blinker relay clicking on and off was always a sounds I liked. Not the generated clicking new cars do, but actually being able to hear the relay click on and off.

Yep rain. That feeling when you get into the car in a rainy day. I’M SAFE

I enjoy the way my dash rattles over rough road. It reminds me of how much of an enthusiast I am.

That’s definitely up there, in terms of satisfaction as walking into a warm house on a cold day!

Tire noise. A/C at the highest fan speed. Hum of a power seat motor. Sound of a power window motor...I like everything!

Fuel pumps, starter motors, gearboxes and properly lashed valvetrains.

Speaking of starter motors, I’m sure some on here can quote the part number, but I always pick out the specific sound of the Ford truck starter motor, IDK what it is, but it’s unique. It’s in other vehicles as well, a friends’ loaner Taurus had it as well, I wheeled around because I thought I just missed a truck sitting there, but nope, it was just his Taurus.

the way some certain cars sound on startup, not exhaust wise but i guess from the starter? like newer Ford V8's or mid 90's BMW’s.

Starter motors, I like how each one makes a different sound, I can distinguish the ones from Ford, Toyota and Nissan, the early Hyundai/Kia ones were the worst by far:

Dad had three 5.4 F150s. The sound also causes me to listen carefully for ticking noises soon after.

Setting a hand parking brake. The ratchet sound is satisfying. Just like a bigger deeper socket wrench.

I HATE the sound of A/C and fans. Non-A/C too but I feel like it’s always louder with A/C.

And tire noise?? Man you’re weird :P

Hmm the only notable thing I can think of isn’t that weird (especially for here)... The exhaust popping from downshifts with an aftermarket exhaust. Ah. Glorious. I’m pretty sure the only thing that coulda topped my Ninja 250 is a Ferrari V12. I might be slightly biased though.

THIS! The synthesized noise emitted by my Ford makes me sad when compared to the clicky relay of my older BMW.

I don’t hear it often, but once in awhile we get a V12 BMW or Mercedes in the shop, and that sound is great.

Specifically, my ‘93 F-150 Lightning... I wrecked that truck over 3 years ago and I can still remember the sound the key made going into the door lock, the sound the lock made as it popped up as I twisted the key to the left, the sound the door latch made as I pushed the button on the handle and pulled the door open, the sound of the key sliding into the ignition lock and the “bing...bing...bing” that followed. After that, the sound of the fuel pump priming, then the unmistakable sound of Ford’s gear-reduction starter engaging the flexplate of the 351w rapidly transitioning into the sound of said 351w exhaling through a 2.5" dual Magnaflow glasspack exhaust.

I’d give anything to have that truck back in my life... :(

The *THUNK* a quality door makes when it shuts.
Also, this is particular to my car, but early mk6 jettas had underboosted trunk hydraulics, so they creek like a battleship or submarine when closed slowly... it’s eerily fun to hear :)
